ABOUT

Group formed in Sydney (Australia) at the end of 1973 by Brothers Malcolm Young (Glasgow, Scotland, 6 January 1953) and Angus Young (Glasgow, Scotland, 31 March 1959). Malcolm (guitarist) was part of Velvet Underground (which has nothing to do with Lou Reed’s American group) and when it broke up he joined his younger brother Angus (guitarist and leader) and they gave some concerts in Sydney.

Angus was then 15 years old and his sister suggested that he wear his school uniform when he went on stage, which ended up becoming an identifying mark of the group. Still living in Sydney and with Dave Evans as their singer, they recorded a single, Can I sit next to you with George Young (Glasgow, Scotland, November 6, 1948) – Malcolm and Angus’ older brother – in the production.

In 1974 they moved to Melbourne, where they were joined by drummer Phil Rudd (Melbourne, 19 May 1954) and bassist Mark Evans (Melbourne, 2 March 1956). The band’s driver, Bon Scott (Forfar, Scotland, 9 July 1943) became the lead singer when Dave Evans refused to take the stage. AC/DC Discography
