ABOUT AFI
AFI (A Fire Inside) was born when Davey Havok, Mark Stopholese and Vic Chalker formed a project in 1991 to play mostly Hardcore Punk music. At the time, the band had no drummer and no experience playing instruments. Stopholese then suggested that his friend Adam Carson join since he had a drum set. Stopholese learned guitar, while Chalker learned bass, later releasing the Dork EP in 1993 with the now defunct group Loose Change, which featured future guitarist Jade Puget. Chalker lost interest later and was replaced by bassist-songwriter Geoff Kresge.
AFI disbanded when its members attended different universities, including the University of California at Berkeley (where Havok started but never finished his studies) and the University of California at Santa Barbara. They later reunite to play together again, which causes them to change their minds and leave college to pursue the band full time.
