ABOUT

Creedence Clearwater Revival began its history in 1959 in California with different names, such as The Blue Velvets or The Golliwogs. Linked to the hippie movement of those years, they always had a stance between the world and music.

Their name is one of the most complex in the history of rock. The word credence, which means faith or credit, was used to ratify their idea of justice, and they added an e to make themselves different and to emphasize that they were not going to play acid rock. Clearwater is clear water, which was taken from a beer commercial and Revival was for revival.

With fairly progressive political views and the questioning of the Vietnam War as a flag of struggle, they were one of the best-selling bands of the ’60s. They also distinguished themselves for their musical option, which ruled out hippie psychedelia as a resource and knew how to mix in a unique way the roots of American rock with the almost folkloric sounds of the southern United States.
