ABOUT THE BAND

KORN was a British music group formed in London in the 1960s by brothers Ray and Dave Davies. From their first times they were very influenced by the Rock and roll and the American Rhythm & blues.

In 1964 they obtained his first Nº 1 in the British lists with ” You Really Got Me “, his most emblematic song, giving itself to know as part of the British Invasion in the United States (Nº 7 in Billboard) This song has remained as one of the most significant of the 60s and his sound is considered to be a precursor of the Hard rock. Other successes of this time were: the impressive “All The Day And All The Night” or “Louie Louie”.

The evolution as composer of Ray Davies, took the group to a second epoch with a much more British and Pop sound, which provided them with hits like “Sunny Afternoon” or “Waterloo Sunset”.

Perhaps their most emblematic album is ‘Arthur (Or The Decline and Fall of British Empire)’ from 1968, a concept album that includes their hit “Victoria”.

His work during these years has had a great influence on movements as different as Glam Rock, Punk, New Wave or Britpop, despite the fact that, in terms of popularity and support from his record company, they were always in the shadow of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones or The Who.

Korn, (often written KoЯn or KoRn) is a band from Bakersfield, California, USA. They are considered the creators of the nu metal genre. Along with other bands of the time, they inspired many of the nu metal and alternative metal bands between the 1990s and early 2000s.

The band’s catalog consists of nine consecutive debuts in the top ten of the Billboard 200, including a compilation album, Greatest Hits Vol.1, and their eighth studio album, released on July 31, 2007. To date, Korn have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, including 16.5 million in the United States, while they have earned six Grammy nominations-two of which they have won.
Korn was formed when Jonathan Davis led a local band called Sex Art while working as a coroner’s assistant in Bakersfield, California. LAPD was the group that included James “Munky” Shaffer,David Silvera,Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu and Brian “Head” Welch. LAPD were apparently better known than Sex Art and you can still find some work of the group the opposite of Sex Art, of which nothing remains. Munky, Fieldy, and David recorded LAPD’s debut album when they were just coming of age, and parts of Korn’s current songs can be heard on it. Jonathan, on the other hand, remained in Sex Art for four months.

The two groups met for the only time when Munky and Brian went out one night in Bakersfield to have a drink and met Sex Art, who were playing that very night in that very place. According to Munky: “We were just leaving and when we were almost through the door we heard John singing and me and Brian looked at each other with our mouths open! Oh God! So we turned around, sat down again and watched the whole performance.

They waited patiently for the group to finish their performance and talked to Jonathan, a former high school classmate of both of them. After chatting for a while they offered him the role of singer in a heavy metal group they were creating in Huntington Beach. Initially, Jonathan turned down the offer, but there was something that made him change his mind. A few days later he visited an aunt of his, who was dedicated to astrology. She convinced him to accept the offer. The family prophecy became an obsession for Jonathan, who kept going over the matter. So he went to see the kids and gave them a test.
