ABOUT

British pop-rock band, disciples of their masters, The Stone Roses, also from Manchester. The quintet was initially formed by the brothers Liam Gallagher (vocals) and Noel Gallagher (guitar and vocals), Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul Guigsy McGuigan (bass) and Tony McCarroll (drums).

They released their first single, entitled Supersonic, in 1993, and it was extraordinarily well received by critics and audiences alike. The release of their debut LP, Definitely maybe, was delayed until 1994, with the release of some previous singles as a preview. The album could not have been better received: it reached number one on the English charts and the group became a constant feature on the covers of the main British magazines. Each single released (Live Forever or Cigarettes and Alcohol, for example) reached excellent positions in the charts.

His career flourished in a flash. In October 1995, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? was released, selling over 350,000 copies in the first week in England alone, something that had not happened since the release of Michael Jackson’s Bad. This second LP, with a collaboration of Paul Weller, was the confirmation of the group at all levels and made it clear that they were not the fruit of a day.
