ABOUT Hole
Hole is an alternative/grunge rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1989 by Courtney Love (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Eric Erlandson (guitar). The band has achieved considerable commercial and critical success throughout the 1990s, beginning with the release of singles through independent labels in Los Angeles and debuting with their aggressive, noise rock-influenced Pretty on the Inside (1991), and later gaining near unanimous critical acclaim with their 1994 album, Live Through This.
The band’s third album, Celebrity Skin (1998) concentrated on hard rock with various pop elements, in contrast to their earlier styles. Celebrity Skin went on to be the band’s most commercially successful album, garnering immense critical attention, as well as several Grammy nominations. The group officially disbanded in 2002 and its members began solo careers and other projects.
In 2009, Love announced that he was reforming Hole as the only returning member. Erlandson, however, stated contractually that no reunion could take place without mutual participation between Courtney and himself.
Despite the controversy between the two, Hole’s new album Nobody’s Daughter was released in April 2010 and the band began touring Europe and North America in support of the release.
